25B season KVN antenna status (for PI; ver.1002)

2025-09-15

(25/10/02) KPC is back with an accurate H-maser clock. Currently, three antennas (KUS, KTN, and KPC) are in operation.

(25/09/15) At the start of the 2025B season, there were some issues with the KVN antennas which caused delays to PI's research plan. Details of each antenna are provided below:
- Currently, two antennas (KUS and KTN) are available. Only EAVN and single-dish observations are scheduled.
- We expect KVN VLBI observations with three antennas (KUS, KTN and KPC) to be available from mid-OCTOBER (after Chuseok).
- We expect KVN VLBI observations with four antennas (all KVN stations) to be available from mid-DECEMBER.

=== KTN (25.09.01. ~ ongoing) ===
Poor antenna tracking/pointing accuracy (with a scatter of approximately 10"–15") occurs when the elevation is below 35°. This intermittent issue is related to the elevation gear/bearing. We are trying to identify and resolve this mechanical issue as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we strongly recommend that the PI observes targets with an EL > 35° until the issue is resolved.
This will affect all single-dish/VLBI observations.

=== KPC (25.09.01. ~ 25.10.02.) ===
The hydrogen maser clock was taken to the manufacturing facility for maintenance and has not yet been returned. It is scheduled to be installed at the end of September. Following stabilisation, the KPC with CTR will join the VLBI observations from mid-October. [SOLVED!]
Installation of the 150/230 GHz receiver is scheduled for mid-November.

=== KYS (25.09.01. ~ ongoing) ===
As stated in the 25B KVN call for proposals, KYS is currently being upgraded to CTR. However, due to some procurement issues, the installation of the CTR has been delayed until mid-December.
Installation of the 150/230 GHz receiver is scheduled for March next year.

We sincerely apologise for the delay. We are endeavouring to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
